SAR Exercise

This past weekend I went along on a training flight to help sharpen my scanning abilities from the back seat.  One of the great things about flying with CAP is that we operate year round, weather permitting.  This affords me the opportunity to get some cool shots like these!  Bonus if you can find the runways in the first image, there is an airport down there!

Sunrise from 10,000 Feet

img_0546

This morning I was lucky enough to go on a flight early enough in the morning to capture the sunrise.  It was a rare winter morning where we were greeted by a severely clear and stable air mass… this means great visibility (as shown in the image) as well as no annoying turbulence!  This shot is looking east right at the south-eastern tip of Michigan.

Bonus!  Approach video I took yesterday, expect to see more of them in the future!
